The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra by helicopter offers a faster, more comfortable route to the sacred Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar, ideal for those with time constraints or seeking a less strenuous journey. Typically spanning 10–11 days, the pilgrimage starts in Kathmandu or Lucknow, proceeding via Nepalgunj and Simikot to Hilsa by helicopter. From Hilsa, pilgrims cross into Tibet and travel by road to Taklakot, then onward to Mansarovar Lake and Mount Kailash for the revered Parikrama. The itinerary includes acclimatization days, VIP darshan, and essential services like meals, lodging, and oxygen support .

Day wise Itinerary

  • Day 1

    Lucknow to Nepalgunj

    Meet with our representative in Lucknow at a designated gathering point for Kailash Yatris
    Check-in luggage in the bus and settle for a comfortable 4-5 hour drive to Nepalgunj
    Light snacks and water will be served on the bus
    Stop en route for tea/coffee break, then continue towards Nepalgunj
    Upon arrival in Nepalgunj, check into the hotel
    Yatra briefing session by our staff for all group members

  • Day 2

    Nepalgunj to Simikot

    Transfer to Nepalgunj airport as per guide’s instructions
    The flight from Nepalgunj to Simikot is one of the most challenging parts of the journey due to weather dependency
    Weather on this route changes frequently, leading to short delays in flights
    Early arrival at Nepalgunj Airport ensures the possibility of boarding the earliest available flight to Simikot.
    Upon reaching Simikot, our representative will receive the group at the airport and assist with luggage handling
    Rest of the day will be free at Simikot for altitude acclimatization
    Accommodation in Simikot: Dormitory-style guesthouse
    Dinner & Overnight stay in Simikot.

  • Day 3

    Simikot to Hilsa by Helicopter – Drive to Taklakot

    After Breakfast, Transfer to Simikot airport for helicopter flight to Hilsa. The helicopter operates in batches of 5 passengers per trip due to weight restrictions.
    Upon arrival at Hilsa, cross the swinging bridge over the Karnali River to reach the Nepal Immigration counter
    Complete Nepal immigration formalities and walk across the Nepal-China border.
    On the China side, a bus will be waiting for the group
    A short 5-minute drive will take the group to the China Immigration building
    Complete Chinese immigration and customs clearance
    After formalities, drive 22 km to Taklakot (Burang).
    Before reaching the hotel in Taklakot, stop at the China Customs building for additional checking
    Check-in at the hotel and rest in rooms to acclimatize

  • Day 4

    Taklakot

    This day is reserved for acclimatization to adjust to high-altitude conditions
    Rest at the hotel in Taklakot and hydrate well.
    Short walks around Taklakot Market, where yatris can buy essentials such as: Gloves, walking sticks, trekking shoes, thermal water bottles, snacks, and basic medicines.
    Avoid strenuous activities and conserve energy for the upcoming yatra

  • Day 5

    Taklakot to Lake Mansarovar

    Today marks a major milestone as we depart from Taklakot to reach the sacred Lake Mansarovar.
    En route, stop near Rakshas Taal (Lake of Demons), also known as Ravana’s Taal
    View of Mount Kailash: From Rakshas Taal, get the first glimpse of the holy Mount Kailash, standing majestic among snow-covered peaks
    Continue the drive to Chiu Gompa, where the guesthouse near Lake Mansarovar is located.
    Visit Lake Mansarovar to perform: Holy bath in the sacred lake. Puja & Havan as per your religious customs
    The parikrama (kora) of Lake Mansarovar takes around 3 hours. The driver may stop at a viewpoint for another glimpse of Mount Kailash

  • Day 6

    Day Parikrama – 13 km Trek to Dirapuk

    After Breakfast, Transfer to Darchen, the base of Mount Kailash.
    A 6 km drive from Darchen takes the group to Tarboche Flagpole (Yam Dwar).
    Yam Dwar (Gate to Moksha) is believed to be the starting point of the Mount Kailash trek
    Trekking Distance: 12 km to Dirapuk (approx. 4-6 hours walk). Trek Terrain: Mostly flat with minor ascents.
    Key Sight: North Face of Mount Kailash at Dirapuk
    Challenges: Thin air & low oxygen levels make trekking physically demanding. Take breaks, stay hydrated, and maintain a slow pace

  • Day 7

    Day Parikrama – 19 km Trek to Zuthulpuk via Gauri Kund

    Early Morning, Witness the Golden Kailash when the first rays of the sun illuminate Mount Kailash.
    After Breakfast, Trekking Distance: 19 km trek to Zuthulpuk
    Highest Point: Dolma La Pass (5,645m)
    Shiva Tsal (Shiva Sthal): Pilgrims leave clothes, ornaments, or locks of hair as symbols of renunciation.
    Gauri Kund (Parvati Kund): Holy lake where Goddess Parvati performed penance.
    Terrain After Dolma La: Mostly flat trek to Zuthulpuk
    Dinner & Overnight stay in Zuthukpuk

  • Day 8

    Day – 6 km Trek to Darchen, Drive to Taklakot

    Explore meditation caves & temples in Zuthulpuk before final trek
    Trek Distance: 6 km trek to Chongdo (end point)
    Vehicles waiting at Chongdo will transfer the group to Darchen
    Refresh and continue drive back to Taklakot
    Dinner & Overnight stay in Taklakot

  • Day 9

    Nepalgunj via Simikot – Drive to Lucknow

    Drive 45 km to China-Nepal border, complete immigration formalities
    Cross the border on foot, reach Hilsa (Nepal side).
    Helicopter flight to Simikot (25 min), followed by connecting flight to Nepalgunj
    Drive to Lucknow for onward connections
