Suru & Zanskar Valley Expedition is a thrilling journey through two of Ladakh's most remote and untouched regions. Traverse rugged terrains, cross high-altitude passes, and explore the stunning landscapes of Suru Valley with its lush greenery and towering peaks. Continue into Zanskar Valley, known for its deep gorges, ancient monasteries, and crystal-clear rivers. Experience the unique culture of the local Zanskari people. This expedition is perfect for adventure seekers, photographers, and those looking to explore the true heart of Ladakh.
Arrive in Leh – the Kingdom of Ladakh's largest city and former capital. This region is renowned for its high mountain passes, striking landscapes, and dramatic peaks, earning it the title of 'Paradise on Earth.' Upon arrival, enjoy free time to acclimate to this high-altitude destination, often called the cold desert of India.
Explore the charming city of Leh. Begin with a visit to Shanti Stupa, the 'peace seat' of Japanese Buddhists, inaugurated by the Dalai Lama. Continue to Magnetic Hill, Pathar Sahib Gurudwara, the Indus-Zanskar Sangam, and the Hall of Fame War Museum (subject to operation). In the evening, enjoy a vibrant folk dance performance (subject to operation).
Travel to Pangong Tso – the most popular lake in the Ladakh region, renowned for its high-altitude location and the fascinating way it changes color from shades of blue to green. The brackish water of the lake supports minimal micro-vegetation and no aquatic life. Despite this, Pangong Tso serves as an important breeding ground for various bird species, including numerous migratory birds. The lake spans over 100 kilometers, extending from China and Tibet into India. Overnight stay at Pangong.
Morning, proceed to Hanle Village, one of the most beautiful, peaceful, and enchanting places in India. On the way, pass through Maan Village, a hidden jewel of Ladakh, and Merak Village, a small, picturesque village on the banks of Pangong Lake. Enjoy scenic views as you continue your journey through Chushul Valley. En-route, visit the Rezang La War Memorial, which honors the brave soldiers who fought in the 1962 war. On arrival at Hanle, visit the Indian Astronomical Observatory, one of the world’s highest observatories, known for its advanced telescopes used for studying optical, infrared, and gamma rays.
In the morning, visit Hanle Gompa, one of the largest and most famous monasteries in Ladakh. Later, proceed to Tso Moriri, a beautiful and secluded lake in the stunning Rupshu Valley. On the way, pass through Nyoma Village, a quiet and less-explored village known for its scenic beauty, and cross the Loma Bridge. Arrive at Tso Moriri and enjoy the serene atmosphere and breathtaking views of the lake.
In the morning, proceed to Leh. On the way, drive past the scenic Puga Valley and take a photo stop at Tso Kar Lake, also called the “White Lake” due to the white salt deposits on its shores. Enjoy the stunning views of this high-altitude lake before continuing your journey. Arrive at Leh in the evening.
